Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee

Rep. Schmidt will be addressing our breakfast attendees on topics such as diesel fuel taxes, road repair and other current issues that affect Michigan trucking. Time will be allowed for a brief Q&A session.

State Representative Wayne A. Schmidt is currently in his third term in the Michigan House of Representatives after being elected to office in November of 2008, 2010, and 2012. He serves the 104th House district which covers all of Grand Traverse County. Rep. Schmidt is chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Joint Capitol Committee; he is also a member of the Commerce, Financial Liability Reform, and Energy & Technology Committees. Before being elected to the House of Representatives, Schmidt served on the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners for 10 years, being elected by his fellow commissioner's as both Chair and Vice Chair.

Michael Card is the president of Combined Transport Inc., located in Central Point, Ore., a flatbed carrier specializing in hauling building materials, glass and heavy equipment in all 48-states and Canada.

Combined Transport, founded in 1980 by Mikeís father, Richard, is a member of the Arizona, California and Oregon Trucking Associations as well as the Specialized Carriers & Riggers Association and the American Trucking Associations.

Mike is a past president of the Oregon Trucking Association and served as the Oregonís ATA state vice president from 2003-2009. He has served on the ATA Executive Committee and as chairman of ATAís Highway Policy Committee and the Insurance Task Force.
